    30 Blogs to Help in the Fight Against Gangs

    gangsWe all read about gang activity in our daily newspapers and watch all of the news reports on TV as well.  The problem is very few people really to anything to stop or curb the gang activity in our neighborhoods.  It may partially be due to the fact that Hollywood has almost made gang life look glamorous (at least in some movies and on some shows).  This may in fact be partially true in that gangs traditionally do provide a comfort similar to a family in that the members generally look out for each other and have each other’s backs.  However, the reality is that the behaviors they engage in our dangerous and often illegal.  We compiled a list of 30 blogs about gang activity to raise the general awareness and to point out the criminal nature rather than the shine that Hollywood may have put on this scene.

    1. http://www.streetgangs.com/ – Street Gangs is an online news site where you will hear the latest news regarding gangs and gang violence. There are other news topics, like politics, race, and other serious issues.
    2. http://www.streetgangstyle.com/ – This is a place where you will be able to read about issues that affect gangs. Street Gang Style is updated regularly, and sadly, thousands have been added to the list of those who died because of street gangs.
    3. http://www.ncgangcops.org/home.html – Organized to fight gangs, North Carolina Gang Investigators Association is the combination of the power of law enforcement and criminal justice. With this organization, hopefully gangs will be suppressed for the well-being of the people.
    4. http://www.gangsorus.com/streetgangs.html – Gangs or Us is a wonderful, informational blog suitable for anyone. It is particularly important to parents if their kids are susceptible to these kinds of illegal activities.
    5. http://www.argangwar.blogspot.com/ – Gang War intends to inform the public by showing posts and videos related to the topic. You can also write and read comments from others to have an idea of what others may think of street gangs.
    6. http://streetgangoutreach.com/ – For some communities, gangs are rampant, and they don’t know what to do about it. Street Gang Outreach tries to help those communities, especially the young adults that are recruited by the gangs.
    7. http://www.cisc.gc.ca/ – This is Criminal Investigation Service Canada, where everyone can look up information and learn about the problems Canada is having with gangs. Aside from gangs, many other criminal activities are brought up here.
    8. http://www.gangwar.com/dynamics.htm – Not everyone knows about street gangs and what they do to the society. Street Gang Dynamic can help as it details some of the things they do and what it means to be in a gang.
    9. http://crimeweblog.com/ – Crime Web Log is a site where criminal news is featured regularly. There are videos and articles here related to gang violence and gang warfare.
    10. http://allaboutgangs.blogspot.com/ – All about Gangs is a great blog wherein people can post about their gang activities so others can know how gangs live. Anyone is welcome here, and you can comment on whatever post you like and we encourage you to do so.
    11. http://www.gorillaconvict.com/blog/ – Gorilla Convict gives some of the knowledge acquired by convicts, syndicates, and gangs among others. What’s good about this is that you can post messages to share what you know.
    12. http://www.crimeusa.com/ – Crime USA is an online study that is dedicated in documenting the crimes currently happening in the US. Hopefully, when people see these they can grasp the seriousness of this issue.
    13. http://www.streetgangtips.com/ – Because children as young as 8 or 10 are getting involved with gangs, it’s really a good age to inform our kids. Street Gang Tips gives alternatives so that these children will do more productive things than join a gang.
    14. http://www.nationalgangcenter.gov/Gang-Related-News – If you want a list of gang-related news, come here to National Gang Center. Here, you will be given various news sources with links to each article so you’ll be updated about gangs.
    15. http://www.thisisforthemarasalvatrucha.com/ – This Is for the Mara Salvatrucha is really a book about a former street gang member turned informant for the US. There is also a blog here where you can read about street gangs and how to prevent them.
    16. http://gangsinourschools.com/blog/ – This blog was created to address the issues concerning schools. Gangs in Our Schools is about street gangs who have student members, and this blog tells of how it can deeply affect the schools.
    17. http://gangtimes.blogspot.com/ – Gang Times is a blog which helps to educate the public about the dangers of gangs in our society. It features the law enforcement officers that fight them and talks about how they try to prevent gangs from multiplying.
    18. http://worldsmostdangerousstreetgangs.blogspot.com/ – There are so many news stories being told about street gangs. World’s Most Dangerous Street Gangs talks about them by putting posts and videos for everyone to see.
    19. http://www.lagangs.us/ – LA Gangs is a blog which features stories about street gangs based in LA. Here, you can read through the posts or watch the videos to learn more.
    20. http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvcrime/street-gangs/ – Crime Scene Blog gives you a glimpse of what is happening locally. The articles here are more about street gangs, and this blog aims to educate the public.
    21. http://thecrimereport.org/ – The Crime Report is your complete criminal justice source. The blog is particularly interested in street gangs, since this is where convicts usually come from and seek help from after committing a crime.
    22. http://www.grubstreetgang.com/ – This is a newly created blog which will feature information about street gangs and a forum where members can join. Grub Street Gang aims to stop gangs from rampaging peaceful neighborhoods.
    23. http://www.policeone.com/ – If you want to know of the current news about gangs and other criminal actions, Police One is a good place to start. They give factual information to the public, so they won’t be fooled by other sources of information
    24. http://www.knowgangs.com/ – Know Gangs is a great site for those interested in knowing more about gangs. Here, you can see photos, videos, and join forums to see for yourself what they really do.
    25. http://www.nwgangs.com/ – Northwest Gangs is a website that gives general information on gang activities. The site focuses on young adults because they are usually the ones who get involved with these activities.
    26. http://www.daltonpdblog.org/gang-awareness.html – The Dalton police department began this blog to try and combat the growing gang problems in the State of Georgia.  It’s another great source of information about gang life, behaviors, and criminal activities.
    27. http://www.gangstopper.com/ – Gang Stopper gives information on gang activities. Gangs’ cultures are very different from ours, and although it isn’t advisable to get involved, it is good to know how they think.
    28. http://www.daltonpdblog.org/gang-awareness.html – This is an organization made by the Dalton Police Department. They are working to completely stop gang-related crimes, but it is hard. They need the public to do it, so they created this blog to involve their community more.
    29. http://www.chicagogangs.org/ – Chicago is a city which has a growing gang problem. Chicago Gangs aims to educate the public about them, so they can see the warning signs and work to keep their children out of the local street gangs.
    30. http://www.stopmantecagangs.com/ – Stop Mantaca Gangs is a site created by a police department. Because gangs are impossible to suppress overnight, this site wants to tell the parents and all the public about the things gangs really do to make sure that there are no glamorous misconceptions.
